Canon Character Information
Appearance: Gilmore is a man of average height and build, broad-chested and handsome. He has darkish skin and coarse black hair which he wears in a small ponytail. His face is somewhat angular. He's been variously described as "very handsome," "like Jeremy Irons but with a little more paunch and vaguely Middle Eastern," and "wearing basically a wizard's track suit." He likes bright colors, and usually wears purple wizard robes, open at the chest, with gold jewelry and trim.
History: http://criticalrole.wikia.com/wiki/Shaun_Gilmore
Shaun Gilmore was born as Shaun Geddemore in a country called Marquet, in a small town about a day's travel south of the capital, Ank'Harel. His parents were loving and are shown to be very proud of him now, so he probably had a good childhood. He left his home in his late teens, moving to a country called Tal'Dorei and settling in the capital of Emon. He worked his way up as a merchant in the city, eventually establishing his own shop of magical items, Gilmore's Glorious Goods. He later began opening a second shop in the city of Westruun, but dragons destroyed both cities before he had a chance to open, forcing him to flee to Whitestone and abandon both locations, with a possibility of building them back up later.
Personality: The most important word to keep in mind with Gilmore is glorious. He has a very theatrical personality no matter his mood or how he's feeling, and while he doesn't necessarily deny his feelings, he tends to try and cover them up or play them off in the interest of not causing undue concern. He exists in bright colors and bold lines, even in moments when he's unsure or hurting. When he's completely exhausted due to protecting a whole city with magic, he comments that he could use a break, but does it with a smirk and a sassy hand motion. Even in a quiet moment with a man who he's still figuring out boundaries with, he does things in the most dramatic way possible, shoving said man off a cliff to show him that hey, his armor can sprout wings now!
Gilmore is a businessman, and a big driving concern is his ability to make money and build a brand, both for his own prosperity and for that of people who rely on him. When times are good, he frequently mentions his brand and is even a little mercenary in making sure it gets promoted, stamping his logo onto someone's armor without asking. However, when times turn hard he immediately turns to the well-being of others with little more than a regretful sigh, and he shows his generosity to friends more than once. He offers credit to a group of people who he has reasonable cause not to trust, and when his friends in a tavern are talking about going somewhere to find food, he conjures a feast which costs him 1000 gold to cast without hesitating, just so they don't have to split off to find dinner elsewhere. He also makes considerable sacrifice to protect a city he had no connection to or investment in two months before, because the people in it need protecting and the people trying to handle the problem need to use it as a base.
Ultimately, Shaun has good intentions and a good head on his shoulders. His biggest flaw is probably the ways in which he lets his flamboyant nature hinder him; particularly on the topic of not admitting when he needs help. He's also fairly easy to fluster and make nervous, although that may be due to the fact that he's sort of possibly in love with the person he interacts with most in canon. (It's complicated. And also Vax is a menace.) However, he does understand the power of proper presentation, including the brand he talks so much about, and if that just gets away from him sometimes, well, you'll forgive a man his faults, won't you?
Powers/Abilities/Talents: Shaun is a wizard operating under D&D 5e rules. It's not clear what level he is or the exact list of spells at his disposal, but in a general sense, he can do an endless number of small spells per day, and several levels of more powerful spells, decreasing in number performable per day as they increase in power. A full night's sleep returns all his abilities to him; a nap or resting for awhile may return some. Examples of spells we've seen him use include spells to do damage (he wrung a dude out like a rag one time and it was nuts), spells to identify magic, a powerful and wide-ranging barrier/cloaking spell, and a magical feast that gives beneficial effects to those who eat it. He's also able to brew potions and enchant mundane objects with magic, though it takes not-insignificant amounts of time and materials.

What 4 items would you like your character to have with them on the island during their stay? 1. A small satchel with a letter from his parents inside it. 2. A good general book on arcana and other magic. 3. A hefty satchel of gold. I assume this will be useless as currency. 4. A box containing a generous supply of his favorite tea.
